Audit Routing Administration

OPTIONAL FEATURE - This option requires custom configuration by a RizePoint engineer. Contact your RizePoint representative to enable/disable this option.

When AUDIT ROUTING is enabled, rules can be defined that determine to which server audit results are uploaded. When an audit is completed, the rule is tested. If the conditions specified by the rule pass, the audit results are uploaded to the appropriate server. Otherwise, the audit results are uploaded to the default server only.

For example, perhaps you are a third-party auditing organization with two clients, RESTAURANT CHAIN A and RESTAURANT CHAIN B. Your organization performs audits on both of these competitive restaurant chains. All of your audit results, on ALL of your clients, are uploaded into RizePoint on your server. However, you may also want all results from only RESTAURANT CHAIN A to be uploaded to a separate SQL server as well.

This option allows you to create rules for determining which server audit results will be uploaded to. These rules are based on the audit form that is used, and the permissions assigned to the person conducting the audit.

Only users with the AUDIT ROUTING ADMINISTRATION permission are able to define rules for routing audit results.

GRANTING ACCESS TO A USER

  1. Log on as a user with Administrative permissions.
  2. Go to System > Manage People > Users.
  3. Select the user that will be defining rules for routing audit results.
  4. Click the Permissions EDIT link to edit the user's permissions.
  5. Select AUDIT ROUTING ADMINISTRATION permission.
  6. Click SAVE.

In order to route audit results to another server, a RizePoint engineer will first need to internally configure your account to include the address of the alternate server. Once Audit Routing has been appropriately configured, you may then define a routing rule. However, please note that merely defining the rule will not automatically route the results.

DEFINING A ROUTING RULE

Each rule contains two separate tests: a test to determine if the proper audit form was used, and a test to determine if the user conducting the audit had the proper permissions. If both tests pass, the audit results are routed to the appropriate server. If either test fails, the audit results are routed to the default server only.

  1. Go to Audit > Audit Setup > Audit Routing Administration.
  2. Click NEW to create a new Audit Routing rule.
  3. Enter a name and a description for this rule, then click SAVE & RETURN.
  4. Defining the Audit Forms test: Select ALL or ONLY from the drop-down list, then click the ADD or EXCLUDE link to add or exclude audit forms. Note that each time you click ADD or EXCLUDE, you may add or exclude one audit form. However, you may continue to click the Add or Exclude link any number of times to add or remove additional audit forms.

(Notice that when no audit forms have been specified, the drop-down list contains ALL and ONLY. When ALL is selected, an Exclude link is available. When ONLY is selected, the link changes to ADD.)

  5. Defining the Permissions test: The Permission drop-down list works in the same manner as the Audit Forms drop-down list. Select the permission that must be granted to a user conducting the audit. Select ONLY or ALL, then ADD or EXCLUDE permissions. Again, each time you click the ADD or EXCLUDE link, you may add or exclude one permission.

When an audit is completed, this Audit Routing rule is tested to determine which server(s) the audit results are uploaded to; however, audit results are always uploaded to the default server as well. If both tests pass, the audit results are placed on the default server, and then routed to the alternate server. Otherwise, the results from the audit are uploaded to the default server only.
