Setting Up the Waiver Management System

When this option is enabled, the following items are added to the system:

• A new menu entry, POLICIES & WAIVERS, appears in the System menu. This menu entry contains several commands for creating and managing policies and waivers.
• A new menu entry, APPROVE WAIVERS, appears in the Audit menu.
• A WAIVERS tab becomes available on the Locations profile.
• A new correspondence template type, WAIVER, becomes available.
• Several new permissions associated with policies and waivers become available.

Setting up the Waiver Management system requires the following steps:

• Set up the necessary role(s) and designate which users will approve waivers. Each standard and each queue in the approval process will also be associated with a specific role.
• Set up a policy manual. This involves defining a folder hierarchy for storing the policy, and then creating the policy standards. Each standard within the policy is associated with a role.
• Set up the queues to use in the workflow process, and associate each queue with the appropriate role. You may define as many queues, or steps, in the approval process as required. You may also define a "pre-queue" and "post-queue" step, as well as an "escalation queue" to make sure that the waiver is reviewed in a timely manner.
• Define the workflow to determine how to move the waiver through the approval process (which queue the waiver belongs in at any given time), and assign the workflow to a policy.
• Set up email notifications so that each person responsible for approving a waiver is notified when a waiver is ready for his/her review. You'll need to create an email template to send to each type of user, and then associate it with a notification type.
